Building Muscle through Science and not Myth

Bodybuilding is a vast topic. It’s complicated, it’s fascinating, and it’s ever changing… or so we are told. But really, what is so different today than was back in Arnold’s heyday?

I certainly don’t believe for once second that just because the guys who are out there today would make Arnold look relatively underdeveloped by comparison, that it’s because they are somehow working out harder, or using more advanced training techniques. I certainly do believe it’s everything to do with better steroids and HGH.

It’s too easy to get caught up in the myths and, to put it bluntly, ‘crap’ people talk about bodybuilding. It seems many aren’t content to simply do what has been proven to work as well as they can, and reap the results. Many seem to take it to ridiculous lengths with supplements, pills, vitamins, superstitions even… all in the name of bettering their gains.

Each to their own; but you want to know what my own personal advice on this is?

Stick to proven science. Do what works; don’t waste your time with anything else.

  • Train intensely, but don’t over train. Keep you workouts fresh and constantly strive to make improvements in reps and / or poundage.
  • Stick to good clean calories from whole foods.
  • Get plenty of protein.
  • Rest on your off days – forget cardio for now; if your after muscle gains you need to rest, not burn yourself out.
  • Get enough sleep. Sleep helps to raise your own natural levels of HGH, and 7-8 hours is said to be optimum.

Do all of those things and you’ll grow like a weed. The fundamentals will never, ever change.
